Mallinckrodt, Hilltop Campus's student center, is probably one of the most heavily-trafficked buildings on campus. Not only is its design and location conducive to its use as a thoroughfare, but from Edison Theater to the food court to The Gargoyle, it is a destination in itself.
It is interesting, therefore, that Mallinckrodt's most accessible bathroom is not on its main floor, but a floor below, outside of The Gargoyle. As one would expect from a bathroom in such a busy location, it is heavily-trafficked and large, with four toilets and seven urinals in the men's room and six toilets in the women's room (each bathroom has seven sinks). This largeness makes the bathroom somewhat uncomfortable: no one wants to be one of eight people urinating in the same room. This feeling is reinforced by the bathroom's décor, which has trippy, dirt-hiding tiles and pleasant but uninteresting-colored stall-dividers.
From a facilities standpoint, this bathroom (and the others in Mallinckrodt) are above-average, with a convenient bench, an automatic paper towel dispenser, a large (but poorly-placed) mirror, and infrared-activated sinks and toilets. The bathroom is cleaned fairly frequently, but its heavy usage patterns dictate that it is usually quite dirty.
The "Gargoyle" bathroom is a solid, but slightly-below average bathroom - Mallinckrodt bathroom users need only look around the corner for a far superior option.
