(One of Wash U's Five Best Bathrooms.)
The bathroom under the Mallinckrodt Stairwell is one of the most heavily-trafficked on campus. Indeed, one need only visit it during the intermission of a show at Edison theater to see how crowded it gets at peak periods. It is a mystery, however, why its similar, but significantly superior cousin, the "food court" bathroom, receives so relatively little traffic.
The food court bathroom is a stellar bathroom in almost every way. Its ambiance is fantastic, with muted dark gray stall dividers and countertops, and a well-thought-out floor plan. The bathroom is cleaned as often as its far more frequently-used counterpart outside the Gargoyle, and is generally as clean as public bathrooms get.
This set of restrooms is also top-notch from a facilities standpoint. They are well-designed and feature automatic flushers and sinks (not to mention paper-towel dispensers). What stand out about these bathrooms in the amenities category, however, are their mirrors. Both bathrooms feature extremely large mirrors (see photos), with the women's bathroom offering a fantastic three-way mirror set up that is unparalleled at Washington University. Clean, well-decorated, and a pleasure to use, the bathrooms adjacent to the Mallinckrodt food court are two of the best on campus.
