Psychology Building. Near room 229A

The Psychology Building is frequently cited by an architecture-student friend of mine as one of the worst examples of campus architecture in Washington University. Although the building is inoffensive, it is not difficult to see his point; the building is built in the generic, pink faux-gothic style of many other recent campus buildings, and the interior, while not ugly, is repetitive and somewhat confusing to navigate, with each floor looking exactly like the others.

The four pairs of restrooms (one on each floor) are also identical to each other (this review will therefore cover all four sets of bathrooms).

Our reviewers were immediately struck by the bathrooms' ambiance, which, with their busy tile pattern and trippy décor, leads quickly to uncomfortable retinal over-stimulation. The floor plan of the bathrooms is oddly cramped and narrow, which adds to the discomfort.

The bathrooms are kept extremely clean (possibly due to relatively low traffic in this building), and the facilities are essentially standard-issue, with a nice pink feminine product dispenser. Despite ugliness, the Psychology Building bathrooms are acceptable ones.
